Please review the steps below to identify if your insurance plan will cover nutrition counseling & what to do if your insurance is not in-network with True Renew Nutrition.

If your insurance is not on the list I can provide you with a superbill for insurance reimbursement. This means the full session price will be collected at the time of service but you can then file a claim with your insurance company for reimbursement.

Insurance will not always guarantee coverage. Begin by calling the 800 number on the back of your insurance card and ask to speak with a representative.

Important questions to ask!

• Does my plan cover outpatient nutrition counseling (billing codes 97802, 97803, & S9470)?

• Do I need a referral from my doctor?

• Do I have a deductible to meet for nutrition counseling services? If yes, how much is it?

• Do I have a copay for nutrition counseling?

• How many sessions are covered per year & what month does the policy year renew?

• Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, do I have coverage for Telehealth visits (virtual sessions)?

• Do I have nutrition counseling visits covered under the preventative care portion of my plan (billing code ICD-10 z71.3)?

• Write down the date and reference number for your call.

Not in-network with your insurance?

Payments for nutrition counseling can still be done out-of-pocket by completing the self-pay option. Superbills or itemized receipts may be provided upon request for insurance reimbursement. Payments for nutrition counseling are accepted via cash, check, or credit card via Healthie, Square, or PayPal. After creating your client profile you will be able to securely save your card information for ease of session charges.
